If you join it please be respectful and reasonable in offering differing opinions and realize that anyone on this forum already has some preconceptions about guns...not good ones. There was a case a couple of months ago where XDT members gang hit a blog that was anti-gun. The owner was able to track it back to XDT. It did not look good and caused Kermee a little hassle and an apology on behalf of this forum.

Please just be calm and offer reasonable arguments.

Guns don't kill... people kill people. If a gun kills then so do cars, baseball bats, airplanes, and of course drugs and rock and roll kills. People have killed people for thousands of years. Why not get rid of the people too.... Doesn't make sense. I'll go and join the blog and give them an ear full.

Here's a quote from their forum:

Gun ownership is not a right. The Supreme court consistantly states it is not a right. Gun Ownership is a priviledge.

The reason the Founders wanted well regulated Militias was that they were terrified of small sects using force to coerce and deprive others of religious freedom.

Guns most often are used to deprive the individual of thier freedom. The only true way to assure the maximal amount of freedom is to maintain a large secure middle class.

Wow. Someone has never read a history book.

I like this little snipet.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Did you see that the RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE. I didnt know that as a Gun Owner it automatically made me a racist. Wow you learn something new everyday. I don't care if you are blue, purple, green, pink, yellow, black, red, white, auburn, fuscia or any other color. If you threaten my family with violence then expect the same in return. Do this mean I am an unlevel hothead looking to kill the next person I meet. NOPE. Also, how did people kill each other before guns. Hmmm, let's see, they had swords, axes, spears, catapults, canons, and any other thing imaginable. So does that mean I should send them my Japanese Samurai swords so they can make a bench for a violent Samurai sword crime victim.

There is no such thing as a good, safe hiding place. Kids find guns, regardless of how clever you think your hiding place is.

I also found this little gem on the about section. Good point you have there. But a responsible gun owner doesn't "hide" his guns. He/she locks them up in a safe. And educates their children about the dangers and safeties of said firearms.

I know how they should make that bench with your swords.

Thumbs down

all of that is a bunch of bull crap. I don't agree with them telling us that guns are only for killing people and that we are all pretty much racist in one way or the other.

Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner. My boys have been shooting since they were 4 and 9 respectively. They are now (just turned) 8 & 13. Every time they have wanted to "see" mine & their guns, they have always asked. They know exactly what the guns are capable of. They have a healthy respect for them and what they can do.

Wisdom is gained through experience, not being hidden away from the world.

Tell those people over there respectfully, that just because they hide the world away from their kids, or their kids away from the world, it does not make the kids safer. Kids have a natural curiousity. They should help quench that by letting them see the world under their supervision. This will help keep kids safer in the world if they know exactly what and how the world works around them.
