I finally did it! (NRA)

Today, I joined the NRA. I had been waffling on this for a while. I never agreed with what I perceived the NRAs image to be. Recently though, I have been enjoying that show American Rifleman, and I must say, it portrays the NRA in a manner I didn't see before. Guess I would say that before, the NRA seemed like a bunch of idiots waving their rifles in the air ("...my cold dead hands"). Today I see a more considerate and image conscience NRA. That plus with today’s political climate, I figured it was time to join.

Go to the NRA website, set up your account and get the legislative mailings. Helps you keep track of what's going on in your state. You'll need your NRA membership number.

congrats.

i've never been the biggest fan of the NRA, specifically for helping push through the original Brady law, because it got their NICS system in place...

BUT!

their eddie the eagle gun-safety videos, ILA Mailers, work with NO gun confiscations, and assistance on pushing through Pro-Liberty legislation in the various states is highly commendable, not to mention they represent something like 4M people...

They seem to be pretty much the only one's fighting for us. (Not really in my state, but thats a lost cause)..

I know they compromise on a lot of issues, but we never even hear of the GOA or other smaller groups doing anything.

Recieved in an email today!

Dear Smith & Wesson Customer,

Gun owners are facing a pivotal battle for the future of the Second Amendment in the upcoming election on November 4th, 2008 --- and your help is needed, NOW !

If this election goes against us, anti-Second Amendment politicians could win the White House and a stronger majority in Congress; and have control of Federal agencies, key Congressional Committees and the Federal Judiciary.

Now, more than ever, we must protect our Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms from those who would take those rights away.

The best way to do that is through membership in the National Rifle Association [NRA], and I urge you to JOIN NOW.

Join by calling 1-877-672-2000 or by visiting a special NRA membership website, www.insureyourgunrights.com.

It will cost you the discounted price of $25.00, you'll receive a free magazine subscription, $1000 insurance policy and a multi-tool --- but most importantly, you'll be standing tall when America's gun rights are on the line.

Remember…the NRA's strength to save the Second Amendment comes from you. And with the biggest battles just ahead, they need your help more than ever. Resolve to take a stand for America's gun ownership rights, and JOIN the NRA today.

Sincerely,

Michael F. Golden,
President
Smith & Wesson
