12-year-old stabs/kills man who was choking his mother

Hope the kid handles it alright, but way to go. Glad to see someone raised her child to take action and do the right thing, to be masculine and protect his family. I'm impressed. Hopefully the kid is taught when it's ok and when it's not to do that sort of thing as well. Also glad to see no charges were filed. Isn't it a shame we actually have to put that in the article these days? The kid saved his mother's life and we have to make sure we notify people we aren't going to charge him with a crime...you know criminals are protected way too much over the law-abiding citizens who protect themselves and others when you have to read that.

Quote:
A 12-year-old Prince George's County boy fatally stabbed a man who was choking his mother last night, county police said. Police were called to the 1500 block of Roosevelt Avenue in Kentland about 8:30 for a report of a stabbing, authorities said this morning. They found Salomon Noubissie, 54, stabbed once in the upper body.
A preliminary investigation indicated that Noubissie had been choking the 12-year-old's mother, and the youth stabbed him in an effort to intervene, police said. All three lived in the house, according to police.
No charges have been filed.
Police and prosecutors are reviewing the evidence.

Good thing he hit the right spot. Could have been ugly if the BG was just wounded. +1 hope he isn't mentally scarred by this later.

That was one of the first things that crossed my mind as well.

That is a big 10-4. I really hated going on domestic violence calls; especially the ones I had gone to before.

In a lot of cases, the women (the ones usually abused) had kids, weren't working, no family around and no where to go. Even tho we would give them phone numbers of shelters and other groups, they rarely followed up on it.

It would have been nice if we could have handled the suspect right in the field, but of course that isn't how it is handled.

I'm glad the kid could save his mom. Glad the bad guy was dispatched and I hope the kid gets some counseling.

Hopefully he'll realize he wont have a choice and won't be too terribly affected by it. But...I'm sure it's much easier than the alternative of losing his mother.

Thumbs up

I wonder how different the effect on the kid would be if the news reported him as a hero and savior for his mother and applaud his actions instead of reporting how troubling the situation is and making the scumfriend, er, boyfriend out to be the victim. I'm not saying the kid should suppress what feelings he is going through. But how much better served he would be by positive reporting of his actions instead of negative.

In my mind the kid is a hero and I seriously hope someone has stepped up and told him that. That was a very brave and courageous action, even if he had not succeeded in bringing the sweet and perfect justice the scumfriend had coming.

Way to go kid. You are well on your way to being a man of honor.
