2 versions of the movie

1. 1984 - with patrick stewart and Sting
2. 2000 - SciFi Channel Mini-series

#2 is much more true to the book, #1 is my favorite and a cult classic!

You guys, don't even get me started how that fat, talentless hack George Lucas ripped off Dune.

In order for the light saber to actually hurt someone, they have to be there in the first place. Anybody who's read the book knows that the Weirding Way kinda screws up the whole "being there to get burned by a light saber" concept.

Not to mention the "hunter seekers" that were used for uh, hmmm, "political expediency"... Skywalker would never have known what hit him.

Now I have to go back and re-read the book. I apparently missed something about the "weirding way."

Sheesh.

Another Herbert nut here....his Pandora series (starts with Destination: Void) was pretty good, too.

And for the record, I'd take a Duncan Idaho ghola over Luke Skywalker any day.
