I've never had the "man with a gun" call to the police afaik
That's because it never happens as much as people like to say it happens.

If someone called the Police out with a call like that in Lancaster and they came out and saw you were just relaxing and your gun is in a holster and you have a license, The person that called would get in trouble...

You only call the Police if there's an emergency and a man with a gun isn't, a man with a gun acting violent is...

I always carry open and if ever questioned i follow the nikon rules of, why you carrying a gun? Same reason you do officer...

nobody has ever said anything to me about open-carrying. my family is nearly filled by hunters, give or take a few.

and my state has a high-income-base of hunting related stuff, so its pretty common for gun owners. not many open carry though, unless they are hunting... its weird kinda.

When backpacking I put one of my holsters on my hip belt and keep it open carry, and when I moved into my old apartment last year I did open carry a couple times. Nobody got freaked out and even someone thought I was an officer, although I denied it. They didn't have an issue requiring a LEO, that I knew of, but they asked me how to dispose of a .22LR round. I frequently visit local gov't establishments where Carrying Concealed Dealy Weapons in this area is Prohibited although I do NOT carry a weapon in there for any reason. One of the things I've figured out in trying to become a LEO is not giving them any reason to not like you. So, OC is strictly reserved for backpacking, and concealing when I'm on my way out the door.

Yep. I OC in NW Indiana. Withing sight of not just the ILL border but also within sight of Chicago city limits. Never had a single issue with LE. Not one.

I OC a couple days a month, the rest is CC. With summer coming up and now that I've been OC'ing for awhile I'll probably start OC'ing more this summer. I'm tired of having to cover up all the time.

I would on a limited basis if it were permitted by law. It's just more comfortable for me and I would rather carry a full size gun in an OWB holster, especially in summer and especially until my fat butt can lose 30 pounds or so and get back in shape.

Daily, but usually not into businesses. I drive around a lot and fix outdoor ATMs. I don't carry it when fixing ATMs in the casinos though. I don't think their security would like it. They might get jealous. Very few casinos have armed guards.

This will probably all change once I get the CCW. I'm still trying to fit the class into my schedule. Working nights sucks.

In Maine OC is legal and I've done it before. I usually don't, mostly to avoid the "man with a gun" call to the police.

Yes.

Open carry is legal in South Dakota and no permit is needed.
