I open carry often. My philosophy is, if we don't use it they'll take it away. (referring to our right to open carry)

Nope.
When I carry, I carry concealed. There are a lot of nervous sheeple out there, and IMHO the risk (being hassled by people and having the police routinely called on me) isn't worth the payoff (the slight potential to educate people about firearms). I talk to people who want to learn about guns, but open carrying isn't going to sway the die-hard antis, and I'd rather not waste police time by having them come out and interrogate me every time some little wiener gets a spur up their butt and decides to call 911 about a "man walking around with a gun"

I OC'd tonight- in front of my house LOL, and other than maybe an owl, no one saw me. Can't do much here in MD. However I live very close to the PA line, but I haven't the nerve to OC there. It just seems like it would be me doing something obnoxious, unless others have already been doing it to set a standard, but so far I saw 1 man who may have been a genuine OCer, and thats it. Also the hassle of having to take the gun from a case, load it, holster it- what- in a parking lot?

There are a select few places I will OC.
Around my own apartment. At the gun-shop where I work part time. At my parents home in Las Vegas. Almost everywhere else I keep it concealed.

Now, that Ohio has passed HB 12, which institutes statewide pre-emption over home rule, I was thinking about starting. Mostly to make a statement and acclimate people to it. I think we need to take back our rights. I CCW every day. I am thinking about Open Carrying on sunny summer lawn mowing days, when I open carry on my property anyway. I just might extend it to my gas station trips and hardware store trips.
I will probably notify my local P.D. and City Hall first. They need to know. I was considering sending copies of all O.R.C. statutes regarding open carry. I would also send them a recent copy of the Ohio Supreme Court ruling, upholding open carry. I will also send a copy of the recent Ohio Attorney General's written statement advising L.E.O.s to be careful when making open carry arrests, as it could get them in trouble or sued if the person is not a felon or committing a crime. I would notify them in advance, and let them know that I am preparing to exercise my right. They already know me, as I have challenged several gun issues in our local park. They had illegal signs up, and I got it changed. They really do not have a problem with me. The Mayor even wrote me a response of support, as long as I was abiding by the State law.

Rarely, if ever do I open carry.
In Pennsylvania, you can open carry in all legal places without a permit except for Philadelphia which requires a permit to carry a weapon. Generally, I only open carry when hiking; fishing; hunting; occasionally when I'm at the range; and when I'm involved in outdoor activities. I try to avoid open carry in heavily populated areas because it tends to freak out the sheeple.

If more people OC, the public would start realizing that it's not something to be scared of and would mean less hassle. But if you cover it up, then peole won't know about it and the statis quo is upheld rather than being changed. Also most states require a permit to Conceal Carry, so essentially you are asking the authorities to excersice your right. In VA anyways, you require NO permit to OC. Hell you don't even need Identification when OC (unless of course you are driving, then you need your Operators License). Unfortunately I'm as guilty as I normally CC, but I've been OC more and more lately.

It's perfectly legal in CO outside of Denver, and while I'm waiting for my CCW to arrive I do so on a regular basis(whenever I leave the house). I probably wont do it quite as often after I can conceal it, but I will still do so. I've never had the "man with a gun" call to the police afaik, and only one person has even said anything to me, and that was just what kind of gun.
