I heard about this the day it happened. I don't see why we need a foreign military to assist us with domestic problems. Doesn't sit to well with me.

In one of the 'Federalists' Papers', one of the authors wrote something to the effect; "There should never be more than 1/100 of the citizenry under the call of the military." This was so that the government could not easily declare a dictatorship, monarchy or otherwise subjugate the rights of the citizenry.

"It is important to note that the Canadian military’s soldiers have sworn no oath of allegiance to the United States, or U.S. Constitution, but could potentially be armed and in-country assisting civilian law enforcement officers in their law enforcement duties."

Is this some politician's way of circumventing the Constitution? The Federalists' Papers are not the Constitution but they were written by the fathers of the Constitution and are often referred (not often enough) to by the Supreme Court Justices to make a final decision of the laws!

Yup all 500 of them. Come on folks the Canadian Military,

a small underfunded force with half of its members being of French descent. Wow a force to be reconed with.

well they're "fighting our enemies in iraq" - so be careful - because those who think any jab at an ally is folding to al qaeda are on your scent.

besides - the canadians have fought in every war the US has, since WWII, give or take some small conflicts.

many died too.

i just dont want foreign military on our soil. i guess the whole war of 1812 thing is behind us, now, i should really move on...

You think Iraq has an insurgency problem? Let the military of another country come and try to push folks around here in the USA and see what happens. AlQeda aint got nothing on armed American rednecks
