Try to move away from the gas fumes before you fire, might get a bigger bang than expected!!!

I would do just as I see the police do on COPS-- With gun drawn, I would scream "STOP RIGHT THERE....DON'T MOVE.....TURN AROUND AND LOCK YOUR FINGERS ON THE TOP OF YOUR HEAD....GET ON YOU KNEES......GET ON YOUR STOMACH.

If that doesn't work, I'd scream like a woman in fear until he forced me to shoot him in the head.

But really, can the average person really know what they would do in such a situation. It's one thing to come up with a plan while sitting behind a keyboard with all the time in the world, but when your in a situation, with just a matter of a very few stressful seconds, the whole situation will likely change. In my opinion, unless you've been through some serious training, you likely have very little idea as to how you'd deal with such a scenario until it actually happens.

I would put my car between me and him, while rotating towards the store entrance. Firing is not an option due to the explosive nature of the event.

Hit the 'emergency shut off' button at the pump and ask yell for the attendant to call the cops when they cut on the intercom or come out the door. In the mean time, keep something between me and him-unless my family is in the car- I'd be on the news at 11 then...

Assuming I'm alone, I'd drop the pump handle, get in the car and drive away. If that is not possible and the assault continues then;

1. Issue loud verbal commands. If no compliance then:

2. Try less-lethal. I carry OC. If no compliance then:

3. Draw firearm and begin issuing "Stop or I'll shoot" commands. If circling the vehicle, keep doing so until he complies, loses interest and goes away or comes over the top of the car. If he starts up onto the car, back directly away. He has now committed himself to assaulting me so:

4. Utilize lethal force. Start shooting center mass and work my way up to the cranio-ocular cavity.

If at any time, I have the opportunity to dial 911 from my cell phone, I would do so. I am also not too worried about gunfire igniting the gas fumes. That is more movie than reality.

I think it depends on how threatened I felt and if I had a way to avoid the conflict. If I felt really threatened and had no means to avoid the conflict... out with the xd40 sc and pow, pow!!!

remember the litmus test...would a 'reasonable' person have a reasonable fear of their life or person safety? just because he's got balled fists and walking in your direction does not mean you are at risk for great bodily injury or death. The duty here is to not escalate the situation. What if he's just in an angry mood? what if he's walking past you to go pay for his gas and is mad at the price? this definitely isn't a "shoot first ask questions later" scenario. any number of things could be happening that you know nothing about...if you believe he may be coming at you, retreat until that option is not open to you.

First good thing... you saw him. Make a plan. No weapon, No threat yet.... get in my car and lock the doors... drive away if he attacks. If you did not see him... and he attacks you out of no where... I'm in fear of my life... draw and stop the threat.
