If you understand our country is a very young on at that we still have to protect it from a tyranical governing body. If you saw the things they can and have done you would not be hasty in your decision against certain types of firearms. Look the the LA riots in which the police said we can't protect the citizens from gang member and other criminals and gun owners took to the streets to stop the crime. Sure it is not the 18th century but look at things that happen such as citizens guns being taken away during hurricane Katrina and all the mugging, rapes, murders, and looting that happened and people were not able to protect themselves. In this day and age it is imperative that we keep our freedoms especially those that were "earned" and were not "given" because of the sacrifices that millions of others made for us. Should there be a limit on how long these rights last after the people who got them for us die? The awnser is no, someone died for us and we will respect them and fight to keep the rights that they had to die so that others will get them.

Maybe you would be interested that semi automatic firearms such as the AR15, Springfield M1A, and even AK47's and SKS's and the like are all becoming very popular hunting guns here in america especially the AR15.
I'm hoping the first paragraph is in response to me and the second and third are in response to the Susan West comments.

So you shoot IPSC, what is your favorite gun, division, open, standard or production? Plates are good, as long as you don't wait to watch them fall and move to the next target. What are your times like? Just a question, surely in IPSC you see a targets at 55 yards thats about 50 metres, we do, not often, but at the major matches. To compensate for this we have 1/2 targets at 25 yards, it's all the same. Thanks again for the welcome.
I have a XD9 for Limited minor and a XD40 for limited major. I also have a Sig P226 for production. My favorite gun is my brothers custom built STI .38 super for open class.

My times are slow compared to most. I have a par time of 1.25 sec on the draw and I average .4 on most transitions. Props are my weakness. Things like the Texas star, clam shells, and swingers usually require an ambush approach for me. I'll get my invite to World Shoot some day, but it won't be today
