Another Impressed Shooter

My father-in-law and I went to the range on Friday. He brought his two .380's and I, of course, took my XD40 Service. After just two mags through the XD, he was very impressed and talked about getting one for himself. Will he? Probably not. But, he was impressed.

I can remember a time when if you wanted a small compact autoloader you had to go with a 32 ACP or a 380 as most 9mm pistols of the day were duty size handguns.

I consider a 380 the absolute minimum for a defensive caliber but now you can buy many good small frame auto pistols in 9mm which is a much better defensive round and yet is still controllable. Another point is that you are limited in defensive ammunition for the 380 whereas there is a very large selection for the 9mm.

Maybe you can talk him in to trading up.
