![]() The above drawing illustrates the dimension difference between the two. it basically boils down to a shorter 45ACP case that uses small pistol primers rather than large pistol primers. Functionally the 45GAP is rated by SAAMI to operate at up to 23,000ps (the same at 45ACP +P). The 45ACP is rated to 21,000psi. The 45 GAP performs as well or better than the 45ACP with lighter bullets weights (185-200gr) and about the same with heavier bullets (230gr). mcb |

i bought my xd when all they had for the 45 was the GAP round, it was between the XD and the Glock, i didnt like the way the glock felt so i went with the XD. i had no clue about the round other than it was a shorter version of the 45 ACP.
ammo locally was around 20 bucks a box for remington hardballs. it has gone up since. the .45GAP was ment to compete with the .40S&W not the .45ACP the best defense rounds are going to be the lighter ones i think the 180 and 200 grainers are the best (well they have the best ballistics compared to the heavier ones). i carry 230 grain ranger T's in mine though!
