What the hell else could you possibly give them to convince them? Geez...you have to jump through hoops to prove you are in the military but they'll hand out credit to illegals like it's going out of style.

I said "F*ck Bank of America" back in the late 90s. I set up an account with them, and specifically told the girl that I wanted overdraft protection. She said no problem. Well, a year or two later, sure enough, I overdrafted my checking due to a debit purchase that showed up several weeks late and I had messed up my record keeping. I had over two thousand bucks in savings, but overdrafted my checking. Turns out the stupid bitch hadn't set up overdraft protection, after all. They hit me with two quick $25 fees, taking me to a negative balance and bouncing four other small checks that all would have cleared with the money in that checking account prior to the fees. Add on another $100 in fees.
I had to take out a couple hundred bucks in cash and drive all over town making bad checks right with my hat in my hand. I argued with them that I was SUPPOSED to have had overdraft protection on the account, but they said I didn't. How was I supposed to know that I didn't have it until I needed it? I was so supremely pissed off I went in closed my account and made quite an ass of myself in the process. FBOA. |

i am getting out of BofA in June. They are just too big with no customer service (try getting someone on the phone). My wife is dumping WaMu also. I took her check, signed by her over to WaMu to deposit in her account. They would not deposit it. They said I did not have an account and could not deposit in her account. I said I could have mailed it in and you would have no idea who mailed it. "We're sorry, you cannot deposit in her account. Ok, they don't want our business, we leave. +1 for USAA and Pentagon Federal Credit Union. They seem to appreciate the business.

My brother and I have a joint checking account with them for the sole purpose of paying for house bills. I utilize the online bill payment to pay for the mortgage, utilities and other bills. There have been times when they sent the check late and I was assessed a late fee by the utility. I called BOA, they conferenced in the utility company and straightened things out and I was credited the late fee. There was also a mix up with my mortgage payment two times and again, after I conferenced with BOA and my mortgage company, BOA made things right and I was credited the late fees as well as a record put in with my mortgage company about the incident. When I switched jobs, my direct deposit stopped going into my BOA account. BOA charged me a fee because that account was free as long as a direct deposit was going into it. I called them up and explained my recent job switch. I asked if they can switch my checking account so that it'd be free even without a direct deposit. I also asked if she'd waive the fee I was assessed. She did it right over the phone and didn't blink an eye when I asked about the fee. Those were the only times I've ever had to deal with them. Sure all banks have problems, it's how they deal with them. Sounds like you guys have been getting shafted. Since I've had a good experience, I'll stick with them.

Yeah they did the same thing to my wife. I usually stick with a credit union of some sort.

And with the economy the way it's going, and the banks not making enough money on loans, get ready for more fees...they're going to get "their" money some how.
I have had bad experiences with BofA, Wells Fargo and Wamu, so I guess you just have to pick your poison. Growing up my local bank was eventually bought by WF. When I went to close my account to move over to Wamu WF wanted to charge me a closing fee. I took all of my money out and left 1 penny in there. At Wamu someone hand entered in my debit card number at "Harry's Florist," for $200 causing all sorts of overdraft action on my account (this was when I was 17-18 , when I went into the bank I thought it would be an easy thing to fix, I had strep and could barely talk, but was told by the teller that "she doesn't get paid to balance my checkbook." Seriously, WTF. When I moved to Texas there were only 3-4 Wamu's here so I moved back to WF. They ended up buying out my mortgage, so I ended up with a better checking account, but now I have to deal with AHOLES when it comes to the escrow on my mortgage. As of after they paid the taxes, there was a $1700 balance in the account. I go thru this with them every year, I call and tell them they're overcharging for escrow, even though I have the state's document stating that the forecasted projection for tax is going to be $1600, and I get told "sir, that's your speculation, we project it to be $3000." BS. So I have to wait until May to get my non-gaining interest cash back from WF. Another fun was was the GF getting a personal loan from WF. She took out the loan to get a better rate on her car loan and get money to buy a motorcycle. We had to do this thru their business office which is seperate from their regular branches. So we get the loan completed and get a check made out FROM WF to her for around $3K. The next day we go to the WF branch over by our work and try to cash the check, and they wouldn't accept it! Again, WTF. We both have accounts there, she now has a personal loan account and the mortgage account. They tried to say that because the loan was completed the day before the check wasn't valid. I called BS and told them that the loan was valid, if it weren't they wouldn't have cut the check (dated the day before), they even called the financial branch and verified that they check was good from them...this went on and on for 30 minutes with the teller and his higher up, I then asked to speak to the branch manager and they "did me a favor" because we had all of these accounts there and were known customers. Maybe I should just start stuffing my money in the matress! |
