Going to South Carolina. Need info.

My wife's aunt passed away Saturday night so we have to head (drive down to SC) tomorrow night. I'm going to bring some guns as always but I wanted to know what the transport laws are in SC. Can you have a loaded gun in the car without a CCW? Also need to know for VA and NC. I'm looking forward to going down there as I've only been to Myrtle beach and we're going towards Columbia. If its nice maybe I can convince the wife to move down there.

I can answer for NC. You can have a gun in the car loaded if it is in plain view. Now with that being said it's up to the officer as to what "HE or SHE" thinks what plain view is. Yes that is right the law is so poorly written that one might let it go and another lock you up...... check out this sight it's very informative.

You are cool all the way down. Only stipulation is that you have to fire your pistol off at every 10th mile marker. LOL!!

You know better than getting legal advice on these things.

What does packing.org have to say?

Upon doing research it seems that NC isnt as gun friendly as it used to be. Alot of Yankees are moving down there and changing things around. Dunham and Chapel Hill are especially not gun friendly eh?

Yea I know but I was at work when I asked the question and its hard to do strong research on that little screen that my phone has.

Btw, did you not know that packing.org has been defunct for like a year now?

Thanks. I did confirm this. Unfortunately we wont be going. After coming to our senses we realized that driving 12.5 hours each way only for a few hours really isnt feasible.
