Buds Gun Shop

Well I ordered a 9mm SC to carry since my service model is hard to conceal. Bud's Gun Shop had it listed for $477 delivered and I thought that was a fairly decent price so I went for it. Its kind of misleading I think that you have to pay with "cash" in order to get that price on their website. So when I placed my order and the guy said 49x.xx, I was like wait what and he said because I used a credit card I don't get the "cash discount". I bought from them this time, but I don't think I'll be a returning customer if they want to put all this crap in fine print.

A lot of the vendors on gunbroker charge 3% for credit, but if you send them a money order you get the quoted price. How much do credit card companies charge a vendor to use their service?? Seems kinda high.

I think it's between 2 and 4%... AMEX is on the high side and MC/Visa are on the low side...

I have never had a problem with them.

They are just like most guys at a gun show, cash always gets you the best deal!

Another reason is many companies on gunbroker.com etc. dont have credit card machines and accept payment from paypal, which also charges 3%.

MasterCard and Visa are both right around 2%, Amex is at 4%. That's why a lot of retailers don't accept Amex at all.

As for Bud's policy, it isn't "fine print", it is stated multiple places on their site, and it is a widely used practice for gun dealers. Places like Bud's don't have much margin on their guns, so taking a 2-4% hit on every one they sell takes a toll on the bottom-line.

I have ordered over $2500 worth of guns from Bud's so far, and I've found that even with the "non-cash price" and transfer fee at my dealer, it still comes out cheaper than buying locally on most everything.

But yes, if you send them a money order you'll get the "cash price". For me, paying the little extra is worth not hassling with running around to get the MO and waiting on the mail. But as always, YMMV.

That's one of my pet peves, though. It says right in the PayPal terms of service:

According to PayPal, you can't charge someone extra for paying via PayPal. Maybe I should post this on the EE over at AR15.com.

I bought a new XD9SC last week at the gun show for $445 cash. I never use plastic for gun purchases.
