Japanese WWII PYSOP pamphlets

Anyone here an expert, or know of one who is, regarding WWII Jap PYSOP pamphlets?

Tonight I scanned five such pamphlets, including one "surrender ticket" that were brought back from the Pacific by my deceased father.

Just trying to see if I need to get insurance coverage on these. They are made from rice paper, some are quite fragile and I'd hate to lose them to fire or something.

Thanks.

Here's an example..

I think you should have them professionally framed on acid-free stock. Will cost some bucks but you have something there that I have never seen. Very interesting to say the least.

I'll post one more example, and then not clutter up the board here.

This is a "surrender ticket"

I wonder if they had any surrender ticket scalpers?

Seriously though...those are cool. Post the rest.

Damn MD,

that's cool.

I've seen a couple of these but then I visit the AirForce museum on a semi-monthly basis so I know most of the exhibits there. You may want to considering putting them on loan to a museum in exchange for them doing the preservation work. Those are in awesome shape.

I have some surrender tickets from France. They're not in German or Japanese though, they're in French.

The Japanese dropped similar propaganda over China when they invaded China and took over Nanking.

The Chinese civilians were starving, so the Japanese put out pamphlets telling them to surrender and they will be fed. They weren't fed though, they were killed instead.

We had some of those that my grandfather brought back, unfortunately my very destructive brothers got into them and destroyed them.

I am probably going to donate these to the National POW Museum at Andersonville Civil War Prison site. Since I get a tax break for donating, I'd just like an idea what they are worth.

I'll scale the rest of these down later tonight, but here is a picture of what I have, layed out on my kitchen table.

PYSOPS of course was where the Japanese were trying to drive a wedge between the Aussies and the Americans, as noted in the examples above.

The example of the male in his lover's arms in bed, is a triple folder; as you unfold it, it depicts the Aussie going off to war and the final panel shows an American soldier ravishing the Aussie's lover in bed, as he is off fighting.

Typical PYSOPS stuff.
