Flyboys

Anyone ever read Flyboys? I am currently reading it. It is a fantastic book about the atrocities committed on both sides of the WWII Pacific theatre. It also covers the capture, interrogation, and survival story of George H. W. Bush.

Wow, that's some interesting stuff...... I've never seen anything like it, and it's in great condition.

Forgive my ignorance, but what does PYSOP stand for?

Motordawg, glad to see you on forum again. Since
you retired, I guess that you have more time on your
hands and can do what you want, when you want.

Your post is extremely interesting and timely. It is hard
to believe, but this morning, as most mornings, I was having
coffee at our 'Ol Goats Club' and one of our members who
was in the Navy during WWII, was a on the mission that dropped the first
pamplets. My question to him was, " did you keep any"? He
replied that he did not, and I commented back to him, "well
I guess they all got burned up". He said that P-51 fighters
dropped them over Japan because the Navy did not have
anything fast enough to avoid the gun fire and also powerful
enough to carry the load and then return after the mission.

This type of history being revealed shows what a lot of people do
not know. By that I mean that the Japanese were well warned
to pick up and haul ass, way before the bombing runs started.

I do believe that they are of great historical value and I commend
you for wanting to donate them vs. profit by them. Thank you sir!

Of course I am telling our side of the PYSOPS story.

Ed

Stands for Psychological Operations (PsyOps) / Influence Operations.

Mind games.

Hey Ed,

How ya doing?

Yeah..weather has taken it's toll on both my other hobbies..motorcycle touring and golfing. Heading up to the Blue Ridge Parkway for our annual get together to ride the Parkway from end to end in the middle of next month.

This is a unique subject isn't it?

I just happened upon these when I was digging around in my safe the other night. Decided that since I had a new scanner, I'd scan them.

I did some checking on the internet, and there is not a lot of info out there, but what you do find, is fun to read. Found one URL that had about all of the same stuff that my brother and I have from our father.

I have downsized what I scanned, so I am going to post the remander of them now.

This is the triple folder PYSOPS pamphlet, very unique..heavy rice paper type. Very colorful.

then..

and finally, all the way open..

As you can see..they are attempting to put a wedge between the Aussies and the Yanks.

This is the one that is in the worst condition..very very thin rice paper stock. Black and white..no color.

Another one attempting to get the Aussies and Yanks at odds with one another over the ongoing war.

This pamphlet has it's corner edge torn a bit..but still in nice shape for a 60+ year old piece of colored rice paper.
