Don't get TOO caught up in lumens and candlepower because how they report that can be deceptive.

I have a Pelican M6. it is a great light. I mount it on my M4 when I shoot and it has never had any problems even after over 1000 rounds going off near it.

Two of the best "bang for your buck" companies are Streamlight and Pelican. For a plain and simple flashlight, the Pelican M6 LED (1W Luxeon LED) can be had for $45. Streamlight offers some interesting hybrids such as incandescent main bulb with LEDs for low level illumination and longer burn time (Twin Task series) and their new 2L which is a two stage Luxeon LED flashlight.

Did you mount this using 1" rings? I found my Surefire G2 to be just slightly too big for scope rings.

I just picked up a Streamlight Scorpion a few weeks ago and I love it. It is a great combination of size, power, features, and price.

I have a surefire and love it. Not sure what model, it was a gift when I got aircrew qualified. It has a bright white light for preflights and general looking around at night when night vision isnt an issue. then for flying it has red lights to not disturb night vision and also doesnt trash NVG's. Great all around lights, bright, and tough as hell. I wont buy any other brand again.

Hmm....glad you guys brought this up. Im a sucker for useful flashlights and knives. After shopping around I found the Pelican M6 over at 1sks. Looks like they have the higher output model. 2320B - 100 lumens, 1 hour battery life. The 2320 looks to be the standard model with 74 lumens of light and the same battery run time.

I have been using a Petzl Zipka for about a year now an like it. It's small and has an 80-120 hour (not minute) battery life. It shines a blue/white light about 50ft. The light beam is not adjustable but has a good pattern. The headlamp fits in a shirt or pant pocket.

For a Surefire light, I like the G2 Nitrolon. It doesn't have the "gee whiz" factor of some of the other Surfire mini lights but seems to do more for less.

Cheaper Than Dirt has an LED mini light for about $7.00. I think it is called Titanium. I bought one to toss in the glovebox and so far has worked very well. It's bright (8 LED bulbs) and has had good battery life.

I think a rough guide to brightness is 12,000cp = 80 lumens +/-.

This site has some good info.
