Asking a Favor frm Members. 2min of ur time
I live in a small community an hour away from the hussle of DFW, TX. We have a Volunteer Fire Department which I am a member.
Our previous group of misfits were fired (don't ask me how a department of volunteers can get fired Anyways, we operate on a yearly budget of less than $20,000 and we run both fires, rescue, and medical emergencies. We are in badly need of new equipment since we're working from the ground up. None of our vehicles were made within the last few DECADES. Most members do not have bunker gear that fits properly and a few are wearing gear that is not NFP certified. Meaning we are all in danger by doing a job we get no monetary gain from. We are just proud to serve our community. I'm asking for 2 minutes of your time to post a quick bit of support for "the little guy". General Mills is sponsoring grants to volunteer organizations such as ours. We tried for this last year, but did not get enough backing from people chiming in that volunteer departments are in need of gear. I know you guys don't live here, but I have met a few at this forum who volunteer in their own communities. Others of you live in a town who depend on your department to save your own home from fire, your family from medical emergencies, and probably don't even know it. Please follow this link and post something positive that outside help can help our department. I'm really proud of the work we've done in putting together a new department that is motivated in doing all they can, even with so little. We just need a little help with some small stuff. Thanks for your time: My Hometown Helper - Hometown Project
