That's what I get for watching it with the sound turned down

You can't generalize and say THAT is a bad soldier. You can say it was a bad ACT of a soldier.
Isn't part of a soldier's job to wear the uniform in pride and act with honor, dignity, and represent our country?

Maybe me expecting someone representing my country to act like a reasonable and decent human is asking too much

No, but saying that one dumb act makes a soldier a bad one, at that point your assuming too much.

Dumb acts, no, not really.

But something as careless, thoughtless, and reprehensible as that?

Like I said before, maybe I'm wrong in expecting that the military make sure they maintain a level of dignity.

I watched the Video twice, cause the first time, something seemed to be off about it. It looks to me like it's a stuffed puppy. It look to be in far too good of shape to even be dead, plus, if you pick up any animal like that they still move a bit.

As for the yelping, the sound of a dog go off into the distance, as dictated by the Doppler effect. But in the video the "dog volume" stays fairly constant, causing me to believe that it was on of the people behind the camera making the sound.

This to me looks like something that was shot for some friend as a sick joke, and go leaked to the internet, and the rest is history. Maybe they should follow it up with an apology.
