I completely agree.

I'm not saying they are bad soldiers, but they showed poor judgment whether or not the animal was alive.

But, I heard a squeal also. Now, if the dog was dead and one of the soldiers did it, it still wasn't a good thing to do IMO. If the dog was alive and the squeals were from it, then I believe the soldiers should be punished.

I support our troops 110% also, but wrong is wrong. It doesn't make a difference whether or not Iraq has animal cruelty laws since the soldier is a U.S. soldier and is held to our laws. I don't know of a state that permits throwing live dogs off of cliffs.

My point exactly retired. Dumb move, bad taste, but I will not write the soldier because of a dog getting killed. He would be punished, but I think court martial is extreme.

Actions like that show the true character of the man, it is not a good character.

I disagree with you. I think good people do dumb things sometimes but it doesn't automatically make them a bad person. I do not condone what that soldier did, but if I knew when $hit hit the fan in the battle zone, I'd still want him on my squad. The killing of an unarmed dog we would talk about, but I wouldn't automatically write the soldier off.

But does that prevent him from performing his duties or even exceeding his duties as a soldier? Nope.

You can't generalize and say THAT is a bad soldier. You can say it was a bad ACT of a soldier.

Well, as despicable as this looks, I'm calling hoax unless someone has an explanation why there are no insignia, badging or markings on the uniforms.

Also, whatever was tossed off the cliff... the limbs did not splay out as the "puppy" was cartwheeling ass-over-teakettle in the air. The "puppy" didn't whelp or whimper as the throw was begun (when pain resulting from the stress of acceleration would be greatest)... only once it was in mid-air.

Stupid video... no good reason for it except to piss people off.

JGB, in his statement that you quoted, he is making a remark about the man's character and in that I agree; good character wasn't exhibited. In that particular statement of his, he wasn't saying anything about him being a good or bad soldier.
