I've ridden the M1030 but never took the course. I prefer 2 stroke over that diesel!

I have had 3 combat tours, and a year in Oki.

Sorry to hear about your lack of satisfaction, but it is better to be stateside with the wife, bikes and beer!

Wife's in Iraq right now LOL. She's I-lvl F-18 Ord.

The M1030 is 4-stroke not 2 it's a Kawa KLR like I ride. The 1030B is the KLR chassis with that Diesel Engine in it.

Here's my KilLeR

Yeah, I was just stating I prefer my 2 stroke over that diesel beast.

You know Kawasaki is making those for civilians now? They have to be special ordered though.

Is your wife per chance on Al Asad AB?

Yeah she is. Making twice what I make as a SGT and she's a LCPL. (She was in the Reserves for years so we got married as LCPLs and the reserves don't exactly promote with gusto)

Kawasaki was never the manuf. of the Diesel M1030s they simply provided the frames to Hayes Diversified Technology and they did the rest of the work. They still aren't available for civilian purchase as the company says they are running full out trying to keep up with orders for various Military branches.

http://www.hdtusa.com/military.htm

HDT - Hayes Diversified Technologies - Motorcycle models

Even when or if they come out rumor has it that they will be close to 16 grand a pop.

It will be interesting if it really happens but I'm not willing to pay that kind of money for one.

Getting just the engine to replace a blown out one would be nice though again depending on the price.

From what I've been able to gather tonight F1 is contracted by HDT to build the engines they use in the M1030s.

DieselBike.net - Military Production Diesel Motorcycles
That's an old article from 05 also.

Also on the link you posted I found this on the bottom

If they were going to start selling civie models like they said they were going to do almost 3 years ago I figured they would have started by now.

I can understand though as from what I've heard HDT has been flooded with orders for the military and IMO they come before us.

The F1 website
F1 Engineering - Pro-Race Design, Engineering & Development

I can't find anything on their website about anything to do with the KLR other than a billet brake pedal mount.

Here is a link to HDT's press page and as you can tell most of the stuff on there is 2005 and older
