Aesop's Fable PV

Aesop's Fable circa 1929 . . .

The ant
s work hard in the withering heat all summer long, building their anthill and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper
s think the antsare fools, and laugh and dance and play the summer away. Come winter, theants are all warm and well fed.

The
grasshoppers have no food or shelter, so they die by the dozenout in the cold.
MORAL OF THE STORY:
Be responsible for yourself!

-------------------------------------------

Aesop's Fable 2008:The ants work hard in the withering heat all summer long, building their
anthill and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshoppers think the ants are fools, and laugh and dance and play the summer away

Come winter, the shivering grasshopper
scall a press conference and demand to know why the ants should be allowed to be warm and well fed while others
are out in thecold, starving.ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC, and PBS show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshoppers next to a video of the ants in their comfortable home with a table filled with food. America is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper, and everybody cries when they sing, 'It's Not Easy Being Green.'

Jesse Jackson stages a demonstration in front of the ant
hill where the news media film the group singing, 'We shall overcome.' Jesse then has the group kneel down to pray to God for the grasshoppers' sake.

Nancy Pelosi & John Kerry exclaim in an interview with Larry King that the ant
s have gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and both call for an immediate tax hike on ants to make them pay their 'fair share'.

Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity &
Grasshopper Relief Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer. The ants are fined for failing to employ a proportionate number of green bugsand, having nothing left to pay their retroactive taxes, their home is
confiscated by the government.

Hillary gets her old law firm to represent the grasshopper in a defamation suit against the ant
s, and the case is tried before a panel of federal judges that Bill Clinton appointed from a list of single-parent welfarerecipients. Not unexpectedly, the ants lose the case.

The story ends as we see the grasshopper finishing up the last bits of the ants
' food while the government house he is in, which just happens to be thenow old and rundownanthill, crumbles around him because he doesn't maintain it.

The
ants have disappeared in the snow.

The
grasshoppers are found dead in a series of drug related incidents and theanthill
, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the oncepeaceful neighborhood.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Be careful how you vote in 2008.
