Finally finished the last gutter filter job. I made (yes I am bragging) a boat load of money on this job. All of it going to pay bills, when they pay me the balance of what is owed (I got the material cost up front).
Here's the break down they needed 400 linear foot of gutter filter at a cost to me of $3.50 per linear foot. I could only buy it in 120 foot increments, so that meant buying 480 foot. so 480 foot x 3.50=$1680 is my material cost I installed 400 linear foot in 3 hours. (this includes cleaning the gutters and downspouts, used a back pack blower, went real fast) I charged $7.00 for material and installation x 400 foot=$2800.00 2800.00 minus 1680.00 material 1120.00 for labor (again three hours work, 2 toll free phone calls, 1 hour sales pitch meeting, two trips in gas to job was 24 miles) and, I still have 80 foot of the material left over. I already have a customer who needs about 50 foot of material at 7.50 per linear foot=$375.00. BUT, this one will take longer due to the steep angle of the roof, maybe 2 hours, due to lots of ups and downs on the ladder with the blower and then installing the product. If you think I ripped them off, well sorta. But, they also pay somebody 2 to 3 times a year to clean the gutters and downspouts at $500.00 per cleaning. |

The guy cleaning the gutters at $500 bucks a pop was the one doing the ripping. I may have to look into this stuff when we get moved into the new house. Does it function as well as the GutterGuard and GutterHelmet things that fit onto your existing gutters? Sooner or later this foam has got to fill up with particulate matter and stop letting water flow through doesn't it? I looked at the link you provided a couple of weeks ago on this stuff - it makes sense and looks good - But does it really, really work???? bd |
