Nice avatar. I keep on expecting the mothership to descend out of the clouds and pick up Richard Dreyfuss.

We have had a lousy mouse in the house for the past couple of weeks. Due to my wife and daughters love of animals (we currently have 3 dogs, 2 cats, 1 frog and 1 hamster), I have not been able to deal with it in the manner that I wanted to, namely poison or traps. Well, the thing finally drove me so nuts that I vetoed their ban of killing the thing. Last night I placed poison bags in areas away from where the animals might get them. That didn't work fast enough for me, so tonight I bought two traps for them. Still not fast enough for me.
So, when our one cat kept staring at the 'frig tonight, and knowing that I haven't grocery shopped in a week and the frig was empty, I figured the mouse was there behind it. I placed the traps around the two exit points, this didn't work as the mouse decided to take a break back there. So, I decided to have a looksee along the sides of the frig with my flashlight, and discovered a lot of dust bunnies, so I had the wife get me the vacuum so I could clean up under the frig. While doing this, lo and behold, there was the mouse, trapped like a deer in the light of the flashlight. So while I kept my flashlight on his eyes, I shut off the vac, then I had my wife get me my airsoft bb gun, bb's and gas all as quick as she could because running my flashlight costs $1.00 per nine minutes of battery usage. Note: the animal lover that she is did this under protest, but she hates fury critters around her toes more then the thought of me killing it. Well, I had to load the gun with bb's and gas, while doing this , the mouses eyes adjusted to the light and he moved out of sight. While mumbling to myself to never ever leave the gun unloaded again I decided to roll bb's under the frig to flush him out to where I was. It worked. He crawled into sight. I took my shot, my one shot at him, before he moved behind the frig again. Mumbling again, I decided to look on the other side of the frig, bingo, there he was, crawling Low and slow, way in the back. I couldn't reach him with my hand, so I grabbed the vac, and sucked up his fury little body, axx first, in the crevice tube extension, I managed to get the vac off just in time to leave his fury little head and front feet sticking out of the tube. he was still alive, just glaring at me while he was in great pain, being jambed in that little tube. I swear he flipped me off as our eyes met. This is when I noticed that he had a red spot on his forehead. I had shot him. Right between the eyes. He lived after being shot only because I was low on gas for the gun. My shot placement was awesome, right tween the eyes. I disposed of the still warm body in a empty Kroger cheese bag, I swear he flipped me off again as I looked at him thru the plastic. But thats ok. Cuz I got him. Right in the forehead. I was gonna have the head mounted, so I could hang it in our living room, but the wife said, well, I won't repeat what she said, basically cause I don't know what those words meant, nor how to spell them. But I am not gonna mount his head, I decided that all on my own, with my wife's help. I am certain that he left behind a bunch of little kids in my house. I swear I will be ready this time. For the mice shall not win. My house is mine. I will defend it. Tec - 1 mice -0 for now

Keep the traps on either side of the 'fridge. They love to hang out there. Nice and warm from the compressor running. If he/she propogated (almost certain) more are either there or will want to move into the now vacated apartment space.
I had mice every winter at my old house. Always caught them there. They would ignore traps everywhere else but peanut butter on a trap next to the fridge eventually moved them on to their next life quite nicely. You might watch the cats though, they protest a bit if they get a paw or tongue in a mousetrap.

I have two Boston Terrier's that absolutely love mousing. They have brought me several they have caught to show me what they've done. Never thought I'd see a dog so into catching mice. Twice now when I let them in at night they are standing at the back door with blood on their face. I went outside to see what the heck happened and there layed a bunny carcass. These boston's are hunters!
