This thread is supposed to be like a bunch of bud's sitting around the bar/pool sippin on some beer/ice tea, just chilling. But, seeing as how your refusing to go back and see how this it works, I think somebody needs to tell you that you need to post a story about yourself and an encounter you have had with a wild animal.

ready, set, go.....

Wow. That's interesting to know. But, no, we actually went to see REAL horses.

We went to see a bay Thoroughbred gelding first. He was nice, but didn't get too close to us (combination of eating and electric fence). So, we're not sure if he'd like us or not - didn't get to pet him. My fiancee did get to "bond" with a beautiful Hanoverian. Figures, since he was $30k!!

The second farm we went to we saw about 15 horses there. We watched one gallop around the ring, and do some jumping. He's the one we went to see on purpose. He's a bit of a fast/wild one, so I wouldn't have felt too comfortable being on that one. The second one was a TWH, and my fiancee rode him (gelding) around a little. He was very mellow and sweet.

I think we both still like the "original" buckskin TWH we saw months ago. Even though he's a stallion, he's the calmest thing around, even when mares are around.

Ugh! If only I were a rich man... I'd own both of those TWH's by now!!!

Right now my fiancee is at a birthday party for her cousin's daughter. It was "girls only" so I get to hang out here until she gets done. Then I think we might head on up to the stallion's owner's place and talk w/ him for a while, and maybe watch the "boys" get fed dinner. It's quite an amazing thing to see: (4) 1100 pound animals trotting past you and right into their own stalls for dinner.

You see Dave, in SD we have an all you can eat buffet almost anywhere you look. Of course you have to jockey for position with the antelope, deer, and cattle. Sounds like you had a great time. I wouls love to get my girls a horse, it is not so much the initial cost as it is the upkeep.

+1000000000000

Tell me about it.

Although the TWH's cost a pretty penny, too.

At least that one TB is free.

Cool I'm game. I'm not much of a hunter. Not opposed to it just haven't foound the time. But I have had a few experiences since I started this job in a wildlife refuge. I was out doing my security checks on center, back when we had less lighting than we do now. It was about 2:00 AM. I came around a building in kinda of a hurry and heard some rustling around...sounded big and powerful. Well, when I shined the light I found myself standing about 40 ft from a ticked off buffalo who had jumped up from laying down and was giving me the eye! After I fought to retain control of my bladder, I eased back around the corner talking real sweet to him and thanking God he hadn't decided to charge.
You see we have cattle guards on center that are supposed to prevent this, but those old renegade, outcast, grumpy ones just walk right across with their giant hooves. I see them often, just not that up close and personal!
I'll save my other one about the giant raccoon for another time.

for a

p.s.

I apologize for the heinous error on my part for not indicating that this post was a "top of the page" post.

I am sorry.
We were heading out for dinner at Don Pablo's and I just wasn't thinking.
