Please persuade me as to why I should buy an XD rather than a P229 Equinox as my first handgun purchase (I have two handguns passed down from my father).
GO!!!!! |

Thank you...I gotta get this thing to the range and sight it in!
Yep, $364.99 plus tax and background check, and 20 rounds of Remington Core-Lok 130 grain pointed soft point! I figure what good would it be to own the rifle and not have any ammo...I mean really, what if the zombies attacked tonight? Wait, I have my AR and a thousand rounds or so, I guess we'd be ok!

A little detail is required to make an informed decision. What do you want this gun for and what are your other two handguns? What do you intend to do with the pistol you purchase? (carry, range, nightstand gun, etc?)

Since I live in California and am only 21, there is no hope for getting a CCW. I'd be taking it to the range every other week or so, maybe more often. Definitely another HP gun, strewn about the house. The other two handguns are an AMT Backup in .380ACP and a Nickel S&W Model 439 in 9mm. I've shot XD's in both .40 and .45 each out of a 4in. barrel. I noticed dramatically better grouping with the .40, and experienced a prem. slide lock problem with the .45.

By the way, grouping problems with the .45 weren't due to recoil management, as my fully metal 9mm seems to punch a little more than either of the XD's for some reason.

I really dig the look of the Equinox, but haven't handled one. My straightest shooting gun is a 23 year old beater Sig P226 that I recently picked up for $300...so if the Equinox is similar, I'd snap that pistol up in a New York minute! If it is mostly range work and home defense, I'd prolly opt for the XD 40...can't go wrong there. All that to ask...which fits your hand better and which fits your budget the easiest? Go with that gun!
