Well, I would carry my blackhawk, in 44 mag, but it is 6 shots, or my XD-45 has 14, now there are much better odds of running into a black bear where I hunt, and I have a few times, so a 45 will take care of them. If I run into a griz I will not be going for a kill, rather an escape, and with 14 rounds you have a lot more deturant.

Maybe so, but with a grizzly it is either you kill it, or it kills you. I don't think a 45 would make me feel all warm and fuzzy if there was a chance of a grizzly encounter.
