ryan and newkid: Thanks for agreeing w/ my thoughts about people not deserving the honor of parenthood. I have read and seen too many stories of parents beating their children, or taking a punishment WAY too far, etc... it makes me sick.
 I have 3 young kids (7, 5.5, and 3.9). Yes, I discipline my kids when they're bad (spankings, take away their things, timeout, etc)... but to cause physical, emotional, or psychological pain to them is down right inexcusable. Parents who purposely hurt their children, totally neglect them, and/or take the punishment on their kids to the brink of death DO NOT DESERVE to ever see their kids again. Raising kids isn't easy (especially when you're divorced and have 2 separate households). Believe me, I know from experience. But I've never lost my temper on their hind ends, or thrown them outside in the cold, or threatened them w/ bodily harm, etc. as a punishment .... I want my kids to respect me and my rules, yes. But to take it too far so that they're actually afraid of you or worried if you'll beat them over something petty, is totally beyond the bounds of "normal parenting" and deserves the forfeiture of your parenting rights (IMNSHO).

I have seen my share of dirt driving on the back roads in WV for work. City dirt doesn't really compare to some of this stuff out here. If you came to WV you would most likely think it's clean because people only come here for vacation. Some of the best skiing and white water rafting. Some of these places people live in out here make a cardboard box look good!
