ive been to NYC three or four times. its still definately dirty by my local standards (Norfolk, VA being the nearest "big" city around here) i actually found NYC to be cleaner than i was expecting. and i wasnt just on manhatten island either, the bronx and harlem are also nicer than you would expect.

although, i have to say i was a little nervous walking through the bronx at about one in the morning.

I think the polution in the city reflect the mentality. "This place sucks, so who cares anyway."

If you want a good gauge for crime look for grafiti on the walls and a lot of trash.

It sends a global message to all that come through, "Chaos reigns."

There's a reason why the Ghetto doesn't look like Beverly Hills.

I thought Philly was pretty clean actually....

better then NY. I know all of Philly isnt that clean, but by franklin mint, the museum, which I forgot the name, the zoo.. those areas arent that bad.
