Well, if they are trying to silence the "christians", it sure ain't working.

One of the Looney Toons supporting McCain made a poublic statement that Hurricane Katrina was God's wrath against the homosexuals.

Personally, I never knew all the homosexuals were in new Orleans....

Will MSNBC devote as much coverage to McCain's embrace of Hagee's support as it did to Obama's rejection of Farrakhan?

Summary: On February 27, MSNBC devoted significant coverage to an exchange from the most recent Democratic presidential debate in which NBC Washington bureau chief Tim Russert repeatedly questioned Sen. Barack Obama about praise he received from controversial minister Louis Farrakhan, whose statements Obama has denounced.

The same day, Pastor John Hagee -- who has made controversial comments about homosexuality, Islam, Catholicism, and women -- endorsed Sen. John McCain, who embraced Hagee's support. Hagee's endorsement and McCain's response to it raise the question of whether MSNBC will report on them as extensively as it did on Farrakhan's praise.

HAGEE: All hurricanes are acts of God, because God controls the heavens. I believe that New Orleans had a level of sin that was offensive to God, and they are -- were recipients of the judgment of God for that. The newspaper carried the story in our local area that was not carried nationally that there was to be a homosexual parade there on the Monday that the Katrina came.

Yeah. Those poor "christians" are sure being silenced.....

It is not just about Christianity, it is about freedom to believe what ever you want to believe, and say what we want to say and have the RIGHT to disagree with those who say it. That is liberty. That is what is being stripped.

I do speak up whenever the occasion presents itself, but it is usually to apologize for the words and actions of those filled with hate, bigotry, and condemnation who claim to be Christians but have no clue what Christ's minstry is actually about.

Reverend hagee is probably the prototype of those arrogant bigots who have set themselves up as judges over the sins and morals of the world.... but he has a lot of company in that respect.

No one is silencing me, and by beliefs are not being challanged. This is a bogus arguement, IMO.

Hagee is a nut and does not speak for me........thankfully I can still say that I do disagree. Please do not lump all "Christians" together. I would hope that we all would have the wisdom to see through the idiocy.

I find it hard to believe anyone would (other than in jest) put forth the notion that the recent years have seen a reuction in the politican power of the Christians in this country.

The only people who have been "silenced" in recent years are those who opposed Bush's war or his illegal acts such as spying on citizens without FISA approval.

Answer me this: if christians are being "silenced", how is it that the Evangelicals dictate to the GOP what and who will hold power? Do I need to remind you that the last four judges to the supreme court (all from GOP nominations) are Roman catholics?

And that harriet Meirs, who is herself a devout christian and very conservative, was bounced from nomination simply because she was NOT a roman Catholic and could, therefore, not be counted as an automatic vote to repeal the legality of abortion?

You think that having the court stacked heavily as it is toward christianity foreshadows a time when Christians will be oppressed?

You can't really be serious.

I don't lump all Christians together, a truly humorous statement given the fact I am a Christian.

I use the small "c" in "christian" to refer to morons like hagee who profess to be Christians but are not.

I apply the same to evangelicals, who (unfortunately) run the country at the moment.
