WOW! Frontsight is EXPENSIVE! $500 for a 1/2 day handgun class. Plus it's in Vegas which adds to the expense in terms of travel. Think I'll look locally ... I've heard good things about Oregon Firearms Academy which is just a couple hours away from me.

I know they say that one should not live in fear, but everytime my wife and baby daughters go out I worry. There are so many dark and evil people out there walking around society I fear that I won't be there to protect them someday. It is a real nightmare scenerio.

I am surprised there are not MILLIONS of permit holders in FL, rather than the hundred thousands that there are in reality, and I am not sure how many of those #'s are nonres permit holders ( been alot of applications coming from Maryland the last few months- that I know!). FL is so open about giving out ccw permits, and the requirments aren't that much- a basic handgun safety course by an NRA instructor or a certain type hunter safety class, plus the usual fingerprinting, ID pic, and background check, pay the money and its good for 5 years. Most people out there can afford one along with a good used handgun.

Damn, if that was here in MD, and I had to go to that shopping center, I would just have to break the law and ccw I guess- my life is more important than letting some sleazoid kill me for his jollies. I am sure some grand jury would understand with the fact that a serial killer was using the area as his hunting ground, and I was the one who popped him dead in my own self defense.

Yeah some people are not fighters, if they choose to stay sheep in the face of such horror going on where they live, I guess its natural selection or something...

I do not know where I get my warrior spirit from, but dammit I have it and if I need to use it, I sure hope I will! My flaw is I think way too much and worry about everything and have a phobia about jail ( most of us do though, but mine includes a whole 'nother phobia I already have). Many women do not have this warror spirit, unless the kids are threatened, and if a woman does not react with raging maternal instinct then she really has something wrong with her.

I should add- people need to have situational awareness at all times, and I know it can be hard for a woman with multiple small children, but then the kids are all the more reason to be in cond yellow. It is frightening the numer of people I see paying no attention to others around them- yacking away on their cell phone is the #1 distractor. Add to that carrying grocery bags and having 2 little ones in tow...

I'm not sure about that, have you ever lived in another State? We can't blame it all on the tourons. Some of the yokels aren't much better. There's are reason why Florida is shaped like the armpit it is, and the ONLY State to have it's own Fark.com logo! I just moved here from Chicago 2-yrs ago (Yea for weapons, Nay for increased morons and bad driving, and stupid real estate tax laws, etc.). Counting the days until I can move from this black hole of a State. Chop it off and let it float to Cuba I say!
