Shooting at tennis balls
I had never thought about it until a friend and I were at the range yesterday. A guy gave us some of those really bright yellowish tennis balls to shoot at. They worked great. They are small but highly visible. We would toss them out just a few yards to start, but as you shoot them they bounce farther away, making it more challenging the more you shoot. Maybe this is fairly common, but I hadn't seen it before so I figured I would pass it on.

I like to get a bag of the small waterbaloons, blow them up, and attatch some to small branches/small stakes etc... to shoot occasionally.

That's a good idea. I live about a mile away from a golf course and there are always a bunch of balls that wash down the creek. We used to get them out when we were kids and sell them back to the club.

Just be sure you're not skipping your shots over your backstop.

I take the unbroken clays from the shotgun range and put them on the berm. They work pretty good.

I used to shoot the un-broken and even the broke clays when when all my uncles, dad and I shot behind my grand parents house with a pistol when I was younger. They make for good targets.
I found an old practice soft ball in the yard a while back and shot it with my xd. It's not a traditional leather, cork and string ball. It's a rubber type deal thats used for practice. It's some pretty tough stuff. a .40 cal hollow point only left a couple 1/8th holes in it. I've also shot at water jugs, pumpkins, pop cans all kinds of stuff. I even used to shoot at brass. Something I have really wanted to try is shooting a lit candle in a dark room with my bow or even a pistol/rifle for that matter.
