Did I miss the thread about Obama's wife?
When she said, "For the first time in my life, I'm proud to be an American.", and then of course she backpeddled.....???
No mention of this here? Words like that sicken me to think she may be living in the white house soon...

I'm getting sick of his mindless drivel about CHANGE.... every freakin' time they show him speaking at a liberal college campus that's all we hear... the gullible fools out there that believe his crap.

Yes! This explains a lot - (PV) It didn't get much of a response and was buried

If America needs to change so bad there are tons of euro countries that have aren't like us. I don't understand why they just won't move there, instead of trying to "change" here. Oh wait thats right they don't have the freedom there that they do here.

Thats the conundrum that is the American left.
They tout European ideals or admire ruthless dictators and other horrible world leaders (like Castro, Chavez and Guevara) when the stone cold fact is that many of these American lefties would not last FIVE MINUTES in their world. They would not be able to carry on their decadent lifestyles and live as they do in the evil ol' USA. Haven't we all learned that the first words out of someone's mouth usually are the most truthful? Chances are Michelle Obama, grew up in a world where she heard that America was a land of evil slave owners and that white people are oppressors and those to be hated and not trusted. She was probably taught that the high points in American history were only for the white people to be proud of and that America is a place where the mean, greedy ol' white guys run everything. Never mind the fact that she obviously made good in this terrible place and went to a college ten time better than I did. Michelle Obama, like many privileged members of the American left, have a built in prejudice against being proud of America. They have been taught to dislike their country...find nothing good about it and concearn themselves only with how they can CHANGE America into something that does not resemble the place that gave them such great opportunity. They only surround themselves with like-minded people who think its hip to dislike and be ashamed of their country. They're blinded by their environment and ideaology to this belief system of disliking America and the history of this country. Its sad that they cannot be appreciative of where they came from, but their upbringing an those they asociate with won't allow it. They're as hate-filled, prejudiced and bigoted as any Klan member you will find. But don't you dare call them on it. To themselves, THEY are the open-minded ones...the smart ones..the ones that have all the right ideas. Your ideas? They don't even want to debate thier ideas versus yours. They are right and your opinions and ideas are marginalized ant not up for discussion. So much for free speech, eh? They believe that if you are proud of America, you're probably a simpleton. A racist, xenophobe or jingoist (they won't call you a redneck to your face...but thats what they're thinking!). You're uneducated, or unsophisitcated cretins in need of "re-education" on the issues. They see conservative people in states like Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas and think of old episodes of "Hee-Haw." They feel an overwhelming need to control and guide you as the unwashed unenlightened masses. Yes, in a nutshell...they think you're stupid. So was Michelle Obama's words REALLY misunderstood? A slip of the tongue? Or is this really how she feels and she is telling us all she misspoke...hoping you're all too stupid to know what she really meant? There are many people out there that are just as unappreciative and ashamed of America and they gobble up speech like hers with an appetite. Well...you decide. - Brickboy240

Well said, Brickboy. I am glad you've drawn that out and stated it plainly. I simply wish that there was a public forum for the intelligent among us to express these ideas and actually get them heard. But that's another gripe about our government for another time.
My only prayer is that the conservatives in gov't can draw this out for the rest of the public at large. The more I think about the upcoming presidential election, the more depressed I get. Where are we going? And why are we in a handbasket? joe

What you say she said:
"For the first time in my life, I'm proud to be an American." What she actually said: "For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country..." You know, just like when the anti-gun people misquote the 2nd amendment so it sounds more like what they want it to say...

These people are not hard to figure out. If this Texan, B/C public school grad can figure them out...so can everyone else!
How do you make those that are unappreciative appreciate what they have or where they came from? Well, that, my friend, is the 10,000 dollar question! - Brickboy240
