The good news is that after a couple fire officers were arrested in similar situations the laws were changed and now once Fire arrives on scene of a MVA, fire, or EMS run we are in charge. That is not to say we cast the PD away, they do their stuff and we do ours, it's more "Unified" to use a federal term.
The reason you see that engine in the video to the side is because what you don't see is probably a tower ladder blocking the berm, 1st, and 2nd lanes. The problem with putting all the blocking vehicles behind the scene is that once motorists pass the emergency vechicles they immediatly cut back over.
I work for what would be considered a small suburban department and we still run a squad, engine, and a ladder on all MVA's. Part of the reason we have good relationship with our LEO's is that we make the effort to block the scene for them until THEY are done or a tow finally comes, usually the squad transports within about five minutes which means our work is done. Once they realized how safe we make the scene they don't bitch. Likewise we try not to block up traffic any more than needed which is their concern.
A "Danger Zone" Fireman!!

Are you Cleveland Fire?

Has anybody on here seen super-troopers? That cop looks exactly like the douche bag that all the other cops picked on.

Then why are you posting to this thread? Raw, uncut dash cam video of a accident scene where a cop arrests a fire captain for refusing to move his engine.... WHILE they are extricating the occupants! FWIW I've never been treated like this on a scene or anything close to it. You have to wonder what the heck got into this cop.. wrong side of the bed or whatever, it's completely uncalled for. Besides he probably didn't have the authority, in most states while fire ground operations (including extrication) are in progress Fire Rescue has control of the scene.

Face it, You aren't defending it because it's indefensible

For those of you wondering why it's necessary to park in such a way, please google or youtube "out of control car crashes" to see dozens of videos where cars come careening out of control directly into rescuers in these situations.

We are taught to respond and park in such a way, same as in you see the ambulance drive PAST the scene before parking (so they can be the first ones out once they have their patient loaded and to prevent being rear ended while providing care on scene). I'm almost certain the engine would have been moved within moments of extrication being completed.

That cop should be fired.

Im not defending it because I didnt see it, but since the thread continues I took the 2 minutes to watch......hes not a prick, he's a dumb-ass. That is something that every profession has too, even medics.

I posted to the thread, if its ok with you, based on the title not the content.
