Fair enough... I looked it up. You missed a "small" point in your rant. The Police can put it to you where the BK guy just delivers a tasty hot sandwich.....

Most of you guys don't have a clue!
Hmmm, most of don't have a clue because we haven't sat at a booking desk and seen what you have seen?

You disagree with what folks say, so instead of stating your reasons, you insult the people saying it?

I don't think you're helping your cause...

Gotta agree with this one, sorry. Most of us don't have a clue because we're not the type to be brought in on a Warrant sweep or on the 10p-6a booking desk shift. This statement makes sense from your side of the LEO desk I'm sure. Not from the average citizen's side though. Too broad based a statement on the general population here for me not to argue with, respectfully.

I didn't watch the specific vid with this thread but I know there are plenty around which show indefensible conduct on the part of police officers.

I've been in the biz for right at 30 years and I can tell you that LE has always attracted heavy-handed azzholes. There is a certain kind of person who feels like they have attained God-like infallibility when they pin on a badge.

There is no perfect system to filter them out. The worst examples however will always show their true colors to their brother officers, before anyone else. Right here is where the problem needs to be dealt with.

When we don't police ourselves first, we rightfully forfeit the public trust. They used to teach that stuff in the first week of the academy.

That's just my point. You see it from one perspective, and I see it from another. Both perspectives are valid, and we have to recognize that.

I agree. It's not the FACT that there are a few "BAD COP's" out there, that taints the publics view of the police.
It's the "Code of the Blue Brotherhood" where GOOD Cop's try and defend and Cover up the attrocious behavior of the PRICKS around them (just because they're fellow officers)!

I watched the video and hated it.. But after reading the above stated quote, things are put into a greater perspective. (Good quote!)

I've always thought policemen and firefighters considered themselves as a sort of extended family. Both are public servants and both put themselves out on the line for others. You would think with that commonality they'd be at the very least, courteous to each other.

Were I work you are correct, we go out of our way to help each other. Alot of big cities actually hate one another, used to be that FDNY and NYPD were not friendly.
The good news is that after a couple fire officers were arrested in similar situations the laws were changed and now once Fire arrives on scene of a MVA, fire, or EMS run we are in charge. That is not to say we cast the PD away, they do their stuff and we do ours, it's more "Unified" to use a federal term.
The reason you see that engine in the video to the side is because what you don't see is probably a tower ladder blocking the berm, 1st, and 2nd lanes. The problem with putting all the blocking vehicles behind the scene is that once motorists pass the emergency vechicles they immediatly cut back over.
I work for what would be considered a small suburban department and we still run a squad, engine, and a ladder on all MVA's. Part of the reason we have good relationship with our LEO's is that we make the effort to block the scene for them until THEY are done or a tow finally comes, usually the squad transports within about five minutes which means our work is done. Once they realized how safe we make the scene they don't bitch. Likewise we try not to block up traffic any more than needed which is their concern.
