I used plastic 2 liter bottles filled with water and laid blue jeans over them.Drape the legs over the end that you are going to shoot through.Works well for me.

Yeah, so it has been suggested by multiple people that the buldging on my spent shells from the Mosin Nagant might not be abnormal, and that I should try something other than Polish milsurp ammo and do some comarison. In walks the Winchester 7.62x54r.

In this pic these "blinged mo-fos" are about ready to get their GANG-BANG on with a pretty but dirty little Polish 7.62x54r!

ENJOY!

The buldging is fine and both '43 tula M44 and '43 91/59 do it. My '41 M38 doesn't. But none of them like the new commercial stuff either....whooda thunk it. My best is from Albanian, whata flash!

i think the rifleis gonna have to have a date with a gunsmith (if i can find one! not one in the phone book!) to get the headspaced checked. If its bad, its gonna crush me. I spent so much time on the stock and the gun looks absolutely beautiful.

its probably just throat erosion, not that uncommon. What year/model/manufacturer/country is your Mosin?? I love these, sorry for all the questions.

yankee engineering head space guage is pretty good. Or in a pinch use a dime. Also, just a thought, have you slugged your barrel?? Whats Winchesters bullet diameter? I have a Finnish M91 that slugs at a tight .308! All my others are .312. Remember the diameter difference between Combloc 7.62mm and U.S. 7.62mm (Combloc is bigger!) Have you shot any steel cased ammo from it?? None of mine buldge the steel cased stuff or the brass Albanian. Go here and join then post your buldging problems

Don't know if you've hit them yet, but hit the links on my signature, great info!

ita 1 1944 M38 from Izhevsk, Russia. She is a damn beautiful piece. Seems accurate too! I was told the range I shoot at is 125 yards, and she puts lots of holes on the silouette target I last shot at. You are gonna have to explain "sluggin your barrel" to me. I have only been into teh gun thing for maybe 8 months now.
