Please help me decide: Ultra thin Kydex or Leather
I just bought a Kahr P9 Covert and now I am looking for a good iwb holster for it. I have been seriously thinking about the holsters from Fist, specifically the #1 clip. What I cannot decide on is whether I want leather or ultra-thin kydex. I have never felt or held this ultra-thin kydex that Fist has but it sounds very interesting, and well suited for a iwb holsters. It is supposed to be ultra-thin, as the name implies, but extremely strong yet also flexible with memory. Yet I know that a quality leather holster is hard to beat, but maybe this ultra-thin Kydex does beat it for an iwb holster. Was wondering what your thoughts were on which to choose.
Here is a link to the Fist website explaining it: http://www.fist-inc.com/holsters/k1/gen.htm |

I own several Fist holsters with the ultra thin Kydex. If you want no break in, adjustibility, speed, and high concealability, the Fist kydex is the way to go

David,
How's the reholstering with the ultra-thin kydex on those Fist holsters? I was thinking of getting one.

I have the FIST #1 ultra thin for my little Taurus 85.. I like it!
![]() ![]() it reholsters easily, it's very comfortable, and conceals pretty well. In fact I liked it so much that I bought another one from Gunner's Alley for my XD... Unfortunately they screwed up my order and I got another one for the little Taurus! Anyway, thumbs up on the kydex! I tried a leather holster, and it just hasn't worked out very well for me. I admit though, that I am not paying the high dollars that a lot of the fella's spend, so it is very likely that the leather holster I bought just wasn't good enough quality. Raymond

Hey,
I own the Fist #1 holster in leather w/ clip. I'll say that I prefer it over the $65 Comp Tac IWB holster, the one that looks like "The Answer". I would give it my recommendation. It is a little bit thick and you do have to break it in. Just leave the gun in the holster a few nights and draw the gun a few dozen times. I haven't tried the kydex but I'm sure its great. I'm not too sure how comfortable it is but I hear you can get some kind of guard with it. Good luck in your search for the perfect holster. Hope you don't end up with a drawer full of holsters like I did. |
