Runaway Bride Pleads No Contest to Felony

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050602/.../runaway_bride

Now we will see if justice gets served or if the tax payers take it in the shorts......

After reading it, the bitch got off easy. Only "ordered" to pay $2550.00 and agreed to pay Duluth $13250.00. So I guess the tax payers eat the other $35k or so......Poor little girl..NOT!!!!

Probably a good deal for the system. Most plea deals work out best, in the long run, for all involved.

She was wrong, very wrong.

She also got two years probation and 120 hours of community service to do.

Most people think that probation is easy..it isn't. My daughter (who at 28, recently passed away unexpectedly due to a medical misadventure by a Doctor) was a Probation Officer for six years. They are not push overs, and the restrictions can be very strict. Probationers pay for their probation monthly to offset the costs to the public. Many are not aware of that either.

Her family did issue a check for $13,249.90 for some of the expenses, which was an amount agreed upon between the City of Duluth and her family. Can't complain when they paid a bill that was negotiated, ya know?

I do hope that the Georgia Nursing license board conducts an investigation as well. Primarily due to my recent loss of my daughter, it makes me want to know that someone is looking out for patients. I wouldn't want her having another 'episode' (of whatever she is apparently suffering from) while working and thus endangering a patient somehow.

I am still thinking that this is a case of a woman with another man on the side who decided to run off with him for a last time romp OR she ran off with him and while in Vegas to get a quickie marriage but one of them decided it was wrong. The whole story doesn't fit with a simple case of the jitters. She had the ticket pre purchased, which shows intent and planning, she cuts her hair to disguise herself, (that shows intent to hide) then goes to Vegas of all places (instant wedding chapels) but then heads to New Mexico. THEN uses a story about being kidnapped. That part is what really sets off alarms. She used a big lie to cover for something else.

Her husband to be is a chump and so is anyone else buying into the wedding day jitters bull****.

I drive through Duluth

I drive through Duluth on my way to work everyday. It has transformed over the last 20 years from a "out in the country" part of the county to a VERY well off part of the county. Sugarloaf Country Club is located there (designed by Greg Norman) and that is where the Bell South golf classic is located. The Atlanta Athletic Club is located in Duluth (US Open was played there). The Duluth police always have the latest toys. In the last 3 years they have transitioned from the Glock 19 to the Glock 32 to the FN 57(?)

What I am saying is that there is a lot of money out here, and they set up speed traps in one particular strectch that I know of. There are signs on one side of the road that say 35 mph, and on the exact opposite side of the road the sign says 45 mph.

The speed trap will be up to pay for what this bitch helped cause. About 5 of us are getting bumper stickers printed up to reflect our sentiment about it, and we are going to be posting signs about watching your speed so you don't get caught in the trap.

I assume most everyone knows the fiance is the son of the former mayor?
