There is a very big hops shortage causing beer brewers to cut production,raise prices,and in some cases go out of business

. This really sucks!! Is anyone else having a problem with this like I am?

Raising prices I know. Cutting production I have not seen. Going out of business? Hmm.... since I live in a city with more breweries than any other city on earth I have yet to see this.

The normal reasons for a brewery to go out of business are bad management and/or ****ty beer.

Do you have any backing for your scare tactics?

Have had really good beer all week. Going to have more today. No beer shortage here.

Just a normal eb and flow of business. Hopps prices have been low enough and supply high so in order to make a profit and cut the surplus alot of German growers cut production, it will even out eventually. But untill then I'll join in the crying

Yeah last time I went to my local brew supply store the hops selection was horrible and the price had doubled. Looks like I'll have to cut back on the dry hopping

The last batch I'm drinking on is almost gone and the current brew is only in the secondary. Bad timing

nope! i dont drink much at all (once every couple of months and then its still only one or two)

I talked with a brewer at the Yazoo brewery in nashville, and he said that on top of the shortage there was a big ware house fire that destroyed about 10% of the US hops. Last time I went to my homebrew shop they had 2 kinds of hops instead of about 30. sux.
