Welcome back, David. But goodbye, good Goat....

....it sure was fun having you around.

With my brother back in town for a few weeks from Iraq (first leave since deploying last summer--schweet!) starting this weekend, it's time for him to get his car back. We've been taking care of his 2006 GTO since Thanksgiving, and believe me when I say that driving is believing. With a very comfortable and ergonomic driving position, nice seats, and a 400-horse LS2 rumbling along, I am thoroughly converted. Even the under-the-radar (gun) styling grew on me.

Alas...I need my garage again. But dang, it was a fun few months. For those of you who don't know, here's a stock pic:

Good to have you back, Dave. Enjoy your leave and your ride.

Innocent life is cheap--a few hundred bucks for an abortion. Guilty life is expensive--a couple million for appeals, incarceration, and execution. How bass-ackwards is our society?

was it two years ago they stoped making them ? Or was it just one model year as in last august. At any rate a few months after they killed the GTO you could get unsold 06 i think the model year for dirt cheap. They were giving them away at the local dealers for like 19 -21 grand.

I dont like the way they look, they look like 1990s bad ponitac styling on the grand prix and grand am. Most folks would easily think thats what it is. It is based on the old cadillac catera platform which was kind of a dud to say the least and you can see allot of catera in the windshield and the over all shiloutte.

Nice sleeper though. The chevy ls1, ls2 etc all kick ass.

I persoanlly want to pick up a used caddy cts-V in about 2 years.

Actually, it's a rebadged Holden (Australian)--but the Catera platform may have come from down under, too...I'm not sure. And you're right about it being a sleeper. The factory exhaust is so quiet at idle I suprised quite a few people both off the line and dropping the hammer on the freeway. I'm surprised nobody asked me what my Grand Am had under the hood. With independent suspension all the way around and a nice, wide wheelbase, it actually handled very nicely. Overall, a very pleasant surprise once you're behind the wheel.

Those CTS-V's are nice. Have you heard about the supercharged model coming out next year (2009)? They took the 6.2L out of the current Vette and stuck a blower on it--factory rated at 550 hp, 550 lb-ft, torque, and some cool styling tweaks as well. And yes, I just said "cool" and Cadillac in the same sentence.
