What can make a digi cam just stop working?

Ive had my digi camera for about 5 years and its been very relieable. It "worked" everytime, well today I got home and wanted to take a pic of a horse with the sun setting behind it.I turned it on I heard the beep nosie letting me know its on but the screen was a gray color and could never see thru it.I went in the house change the batteries and still nothing. How does something just "stop" working???????????

I had a Sony, and after a year one day, the lens would not come out
from behind the lens cover. It was jammed.
I called Sony and they said that the software had a glitch in it and it would cost 100 to repair it. The camera cost 95!
It just happens to that kind of stuff once and awhile after the manu warranty runs out, that's why sometimes your just stuck buying the store warranty with it.

Mag, the marvels of modern technology!

I predict that you will never find out why
it died.

You are lucky! Normally, most are designed
to crap out the day after the warranty runs
out.

Oh, come on you paid $200 for it. There's gotta be more use for it than a paper weight.
Now you've got a new target you can shoot at!

The screens go out more than you think. I used to sell them for Best Buy, the screens on most digital cameras are not covered due to the cost of them.

Does your camera still take a picture even though the screen doesn't work?
Will it make the shutter noise when you snap it? Will it live auto focus, can you hear the lens moving?

CCD is probably damaged.

It will cost you more to repair than replace.

Just buy a new one.

Sorry...thats the way things go these days.

The evil digi camera, it can still take the picture just point and shoot. You wont see the image on the screen but once you upload it will be there. I still use a hp 6.2 mega pixels and the screen is cracked and I cant see a daymn thing, but, I still take pictures and upload them to see what the hell came out.
