hey guys Im new here and new to the springfield xd. I have been a hardcore big bore advocate ever since getting into guns and shooting but got a nice painful but honest kick in the b***s when my ccw instructor told me my 1911 gov model .45 was too much gun for me. I passed the course 18 of 20 on the semi auto and 19 of 20 with an old ruger security-six .357 mag. I just bought a bi tone 9mm xd service 9mm package and so far I really enjoy it but Im not used to the dot sights, so im going to swallow my pride and just ask how are the 3 dot sights to be aligned all 3 in a row or front sight slightly above the rear sights? My 1911 had fixed combat sights, I had a taurus millenium pro sub compact .45 but couldnt hit crap with it so I am going back down in caliber for a while hence the 9mm to relearn the basics of on target shooting. Any insight or help would be much appreciated. thank you

Line them up, horizontally. Either at the target center or at the 6:00 position. Be consistent; note point of impact... Blah, blah, blah.

The rear sights making contact with the forehead will lead to that conclusion.

I shake too much trying to hold the 1911 in the stance they were making us shoot i normally shoot in a weaver stance, and they had us shooting leaned forward arms straight and locked head lean forward as well. my neck hurt and it was uncomfortable shooting that way plus im a small framed person so the weight of the 1911 combined with the unfamiliar stance was makin me real shakey

True - I still have my service .45 and it can bite if you are not careful. Seriously, I agree with Springer - work with the .45 until you find a grip and stance that will work for you. At the same time try some wrist strengthening exercises which you can do with a dowel rod, rope and paint cans filled with rock or water. That will help strengthen your grip.
