What do we do if the cease fire is lifted (PV)

This isn't meant to be PV but can't help but go that way.

Moqtada al-Sadr is getting heavy pressure from "his people" to lift the cease fire against US and Iraqi forces. Attacks stemming from Iranian Special Groups (IED's with EFP's) apparently increased significantly in January.

Undoubtedly if the cease fire is broken and attacks against Sunni's begin again Iraq will see a repeat of '05 and '06 with near civil war if not outright civil war this time. I think this maybe one reason why the return to pre-surge levels aren't happening anytime soon.

If that occurs what policy would you advocate for our government and military? Try to seperate the two sides while losing our military men and women or finding a way to disengage in a "hasty" manner?

I personally can't see our troops wearing black & white-striped shirts.

I'm just curious as to what point our military leaders tell the Pentagon/White House that it's time to wash our hands of this mess ... providing it gets to the point of being a big giant turd. At some point the law of diminishing returns will have to be addressed. Then again, maybe Moqtada will become a stellar citizen with altruistic motives who will put people first regardless of which side of Islam they fall on and not be pre-occupied with a distance learning/Cliff's notes acclerated fast track to hanging with the Mullah's.

"What policy would you advocate for our government and military?"

It does not matter what I advocate or oppose. If the cease fire ends, the mission will again change to meet the current situation. Our media will fill the airwaves with the stated objectives of this administration, and a few people will remember that we are still at war as we spread democracy via massive amounts of lead projectiles.

Concerning "our military leaders telling the Pentagon/White House that it's time to wash our hands of this mess",
I would venture to say that a few have already surmised that Iraq is "a big giant turd". But their position does not afford them the voice to be heard effectively.

February 23rd will be an interesting day.
