Orlando victim turns gun on 4 robbers.

Sorry if this story was already posted, but the victim used a Springfield XD to defend himself so I thought I should post it.

A private investigator fires his gun as the 4 men run off with his cell phone and wallet.

An armed citizen surprised four men who robbed him at gunpoint last week.

After being ordered to his knees, Russel Olofson warned the men that "they should think about it," according to an Orlando police report released this week.

A private investigator with military training, Olofson, 24, told police the robbers snatched his cell phone and a wallet containing his concealed-weapon permit shortly before 10 p.m. Friday outside Ridge Club Apartments.




After the robbers took his items, Olofson stood up, drew his Springfield XD sub-compact 9 mm handgun "and fired two rounds toward male #1 with the silver handgun, possibly striking him," the report states. "Males #2, #3, and #4 then ran southeast . . . and male #1 ran northeast . . ."

A search by police quickly turned up a pistol likely used in the holdup, the report said.

The .45-caliber Ruger pistol and clothing believed to have been worn by male 1 were found in the backyard of a home on Alrix Drive, reports state. The serial numbers on the pistol had been scratched off, a common sign the weapon may have been stolen.

The cell phone and wallet were not recovered. The wallet contained an Iraq Embassy badge, an Army contractor's ID card, Olofson's drivers license and a credit card. Anyone who finds the wallet or knows the identities of the robbers is asked to call Crimeline at 407-423-8477.

Olofson, who had been conducting an investigation for Briggs Corp. Solutions, was not injured. A check by police of area hospitals did not find any reports of patients treated for gunshot wounds.

Interesting. That area is just outside a lot of the major tourist attractions in Orlando, just a mile or mile and a half from Universal Studios; and from what I know about it, it's a kind of rough area even though it doesn't look that bad.

Anyways...good for him; situation definitely looks bleak if you have four men around you and you are on your knees, glad it worked out for him.

At this point pretty much anywhere in Orlando is a "rough area." And just by coincidence that area is also loaded to the gills with illegal immigrants.

Florida is turning into a CRAP HOLE! crime here has gotten retarded and its too hard to do anything about it. even for the LEO's who want to do something about it, there isnt any point! the idiots will be right back out on the street days after the arrest and be doing the same crimes! the URBAN setting and the URBAN lifestyle is like heaven for criminals. unfortunately Florida is turning into one big concrete filled urban crime filled craphole!

I LOVE Florida, i just hate the people here(well, 90% of them)! this place has been overrun with disrespectful a holes. between the generally unfriendly people, the idiots who commit crimes against their neighbors, have big stupid thumping loud sound systems, loud stupid fart can exhausts on their vehicles and the general "im actin like a tough thug gang member" look and attitude, im having a hard time putting up with this crap!

a friend of mine keeps telling me about this concert he wants me to go to in orlando, but i wont do it. the chances of me going there and not having a panic attack and wanting to go off on people is extremely slim, SO i dont go. between the people who just love to start fights at shows, the drunken morons, the thug gangster criminals, the homeless hassling you AND my not having my CCW yet, im not going.

This is exactly why concealed carry is a good thing. I wish that Wisconsin would pull its head out of its a$$ and allow us to exercise this right.

Not all of Florida is a crap hole, it's just the big cities ie. Jacksonville, Orlando, and anywhere within a 100mi radius of Miami. Miami is the capitol of hell holes, it's like a microcosm of everything that is wrong with the US; crime, illegals, etc, etc, etc.

And your absolutely right about not wanting to go to Orlando, it would be very unwise to go without your CCW.

It's everywhere, Chief. Funny you say that. I feel the safest when I am vacationing with the family in St. Augustine. Luckily, Florida has reciprocity with my state, Ohio, and I carry down there. Never any problems.

I live near Akron, and crime is becoming RAMPANT. Every single day in the local paper, there is an armed robbery, murder, stabbing, rape, etc. The city has lost tons of jobs, and it is a drab hellhole these days. I am fortunate to be trained in a career that makes me a fair amount of money and has good job security. That mixed with a relatively low cost of living keeps me here. For now.

But, rest assured, I go NOWHERE without packing heat. Period. My house in the peaceful burbs, but it only takes me a 6 minute ride to be in an area that WILL get you killed during the wrong time of day.
