A lot of fire power and a lot of capacity in a handgun from what I can see.

Small for self defense, maybe. But if your 9mm or .45 can't penetrate body armor then what good is it?
good point

How many self defense scenarios have invovled body armor. The only one that comes to mind right away is the shooting at the court house in Texas.

The FN P90 and FN PS90 carbine are the only other weapons which uses the 5.7x28mm cartridge. The SS190 variant of the cartridge, which is illegal for civilian use/purchase (falls under Class III) in the U.S. and for military use only, is what caused the huge following for a while.

FN claimed that the SS190 5.7x28mm cartridge from the pistol could pierce the older U.S. Army PASGT vest at 300 meters range, and a U.S. Army PASGT helmet at a range of 240 meters. Basically... it cuts through certain body armors like a hot knife on butter.

The SS190 has a muzzle velocity of 2,350 ft/sec in the FN P90 so I would assume the pistol variant would be fairly close too. This weapon was designed to penetrate/wound/kill, regardless of claims and counter-claims of it's stopping power.

The "standard" magazine holds 20 rounds. It's pretty impressive.

With all the talk of being a great penetrator, has anybody ever compared the FN with the 7.62x25 Tok round? I seem to remember it being a capable performer for quite a bit less money than the FN.

I think they had Military and LEOs in mind with the design of this round; I'm sure you already know that they use it in a submachine gun too.

Being small, the gun holds somewhere around 20rds in standard capacity.
And anyway, the small bullet argument is thrown at the AR with it's use of the 5.56 round, and most people don't seem to be bothered by that fact.
The downside to me is the price. But then again, it is a FN.

If your going to put multiple rounds into a fast moving target, it is the way to go. So on a battlefield against someone that isn't necessarily coming straight at you, (multiple targets engaging multiple people) I think it wouldn't be a bad way to do, especially considering the p90 if you use it the ammo is already supported by your units.

Personally I'll stick with 14 rounds of .357 sig, I think that will do the trick

Oh yeah, the SS192 ammo is the real trick, its steel and something else, so that if it hits a hard target it closes into a small ball and punches through, but a soft target it mushrooms, only ammo in the world to claim that. No idea how that feature performs, but that was the claim.

SS192 was never banned, to get the gun legal for sales to California, they voluntarily stopped import, if the ammo was available, I would be suggesting it for home defense for females.

So buying ammo for that would be ridiculously expensive? sweet concept though.

I would just like to point out that Kermee posted on this thread.
Therefore, it's cool.
