Rbowwow knows his Nissans!

The only code is the multiple misfire code which does nothing to help solve the problem!

I had a BMW that did this because the Camshaft position sensor was bad so the timing went back to a base default timing and the engine was a bit sluggish under hard acceleration and the check engine light would blink.

Shouldn't cost more than $75 to pay for an hour of labor get it diagnosed. Go from there.

Its a failing coil. Pull codes and find out what cylinder it is and replace the coil.

The only code is the multiple misfire code, doesn't list a specific location.

0701 (Multiple Cylinder Misfire detected)

When a coil pack fails, there are visual tell tail signs but will likely only be visible to an experienced eye..

I want to say no, its a manual if that makes a difference. I will check tonight using the parking brake.

Is there anything to look for? It doesn't miss while just idling that is what makes me think it isn't a coil. I can reproduce anytime, just push it above 3000 RPM and the light pulses and there is hesitation.

The fact that it misses under load and not at idle is a classic sign that its a coil. What happens is as the mixture gets richer in the cylinder (under load) the coil pack fires to the point of least resistance, that point is usually either in the coil tower to the plug or near a bracket bolt down, or in the metal surround of the coil. I am an ex master tech with 3 different auto makes including Nissan.

Problem when you cannot duplicate it with the hood open is you cannot unplug cylinders to find the culprit. If you took it in for diagnostics, they could diagnose it with their hand held while driving it.
