Yahoo's stock was higher a few months ago and at that price this deal wouldn't appear as impressive.

holy crap! the yahoo guys would be nutz not to take that offer.

Seems outrageous price, i think MS could make out far better just spending 2 billion on the worlds biggest ad campaign for a few years promoting MSN searchengine/homepage.

Thats completely outrageous. Some of these new ish sites are way way way overvalued. I think it was 3 billion the punk that started facebook turned down. There is absolutely NOTHING unique they do that someone else cant copy with enough start up money, you could virtually copy every function that facebook has or myspace for that matter and promote it.

These big sites stock are gonna take a crap in the long run. Completely unrealistic values.

They will just get rid of it, and/or merge Yahoo with MSN

The real $$$ is going to Gooooogle.

Everytime we do a search, most of
us use Google, the place that we end
up on, business of course, is charged
by Google for the reference. Their
revenue was near $17 billion last year
and Yahoo was maybe $6 billion.

MS is looking at the future and probably
feel that they can pour $$$ into Yahoo
and compete with Google.

Personally, I think that they have waited
toooooooooo looooooooooog to make the
move.

It won't be long until we're paying a yearly subscription to use microsoft. They'll have it set up where the software is all on the net, instead of on your computer. Imagine if they could get $50 a year from every person on the internet.

When is it safe to say you have enough money? Does one company really need to try and take over the world?

Just what we need microsoft owning every thing so they can dictate to us how we are supposed to use email and surf the net.

They already own msn... just recently I went to set up the email program on vista to pull my hotmail and was told that I cannot do it to use the website.

Funny I use outlook express on another machine and it pulls up fine. Another example of them dropping functionality because they feel that we should use there website to pull email vs a program.

Yahoo is better than that damned Google junk. I've tried using Google, and every time, I NEVER get the right results in my search. With yahoo, what I'm looking for is usually the first or second one on page 1.

I hope MS does not buy Yahoo, and I hope Yahoo can bounce back soon. I love that search engine to bits.
