Yeah, I think you're right, for the most part. The rest of the state is fine (except for parts of Rock Island and East St. Louis). Cook County and "Chicagoland" are what is screwed up. We need to take Cook County, and make it a seperate state. I'd vote for it.

Then maybe they'd leave the rest of us alone!

Wishful thinking. Iowa is looking better and better. We just had one gun manufacturer move across the river, and rumors of one or two more also moving. I hope Springfield Armory isn't forced into moving.

Illinois and Jersey are both interesting places (among a few others). I won't even fly over Illinois much less set foot there.

I grew up in Jersey. I invite my brother and his son (my nephew) to come here for some range time. We have a ball. I won't go to Jersey anymore. Why should I?

This line of thinking is ridiculous. Sexist, and not as easy to accomplish as you might think. I think it would be more effective if you first ate some OC powder to make your projectile vomit even "less inviting"

The problem with Rapists is not that their victims are "too inviting" its that they are pervert dirt bags and need a .45 caliber hole in their head to cure their social disease. At least in Michigan a woman can get a CCW, even if a tazer or most pepper spray and mace is illegal, plus ASP batons too.

Maryland sucks too, don't forget those of us stuck here. Our current guv is anti gun, and the mayor of Baltimore who replaced him as mayor is even stupider. The state is may-issue, so only people transporting lots of cash for a business, retired LEO's, and assorted "special" people can get a permit. Most permits are for use ONLY when engaging in cash carrying or whatever dangerous job related activity they were issued for- NOT for 24/7 protection. The state cares more about protecting money than protecting people.

Our gun laws are nuts. 7 day wait which can be 10 days, 14 days, or more depending on the whims of the state police doing the paperwork and background checks. Legally a dealer can release the weapon on day 8, but alot will not do it fearing litigation or police reprimands, since they do not have in their hands that the buyer passed the background check. We also have to buy a integral lock with every handgun that is sold new or was made after a certain date, submit a fired casing for all new handguns, take a safety class that is a total joke ( you can do it online in like 30 mins), guns cost more in this state, many gunbroker.com dealers won't sell to MD, and there are no private handgun sales allowed without a formal transfer ( do at FFL and pay their fee, or go direct to state police- still requires 7 day wait). We also have a handgun roster ( if its not listed you can't buy it), and all semi auto "machine pistols" are banned.

We do not have to have a FOID card however, nor the anal probes of NJ, and handgun ownership is allowed in all cities in the state. We also have an old castle doctrine law that is probably from 1690 or something LOL, was never removed from the books. So we are allowed to shoot at home intruders without first retreating. I can also shoot some ******* in my place of business, should some idiot try to rob me or take advantage of me. I can OC or CC in my business, do same standing outside and also do same in my house, and perhaps on the whole property as well. My county also allows for me to target shoot on private rural land without any special zoning variances. Unless neighbors complain alot. But my neighbors are half rednecks who do their own shooting, the other half either don't care or are too scared to say anything LOL

I will agree with you guys. The greater part of Illinois is rational and reasonable when it comes to firearms and gun ownership. I hunt with a great group of guys in cnetral and north central Illinois. Where I live, small town west of Joliet, many of my friends own handguns, rifles and shotguns. We all believe in our "right to keep and bear arms."

The problem here is that many people in Chicago do not regconize there is an Illinois south of the Eisenhower expressway! My big beef is when I talk firearms with Chicago residents. They are good people who, with a liberal slant, feel that having the handgun ban has made them safer until they admit that they do not walk in certain areas around their home at nights, do not let their children go to certain places alone and so on and so on. The two groups that do not worry about hand gun control - gang bangers and criminals. They freely admit that it is easy to obtain a handgun and it is nice knowing that many homes and individuals are not able to protect themselves. My hope lies with the SC decision on the DC case. Could Chicago be next.....?

HA! Atleast you have a reason still its a May-Issue state. NJ is Shall-Issue in they have the same "criteria" (retired LEO or "connected" people).
