The governor, House and Senate are all Democrat-controlled. They spend more time arguing amongst themselves than they do getting work done. I think the state budget was about five months over due, and school districts didn't have any clue as to when they would get funding when school started.

Governor Bla-JOKE-a-vitch is just a Chicago puppet. HE LIVES IN CHICAGO! During his first term, you could count the number of times he slept in the governor's mansion in Springfield ON ONE HAND. During our recent budget crisis, he ordered special legislative sessions nearly every day, but didn't bother to show up for any of them himself. He commutes to work on a regular basis. One of these special legislative sessions he called, he skipped it himself so he go to a Hannah Montana concert!

Sheesh. Don't get me started.

There are an awful lot of mighty fine individuals who serve as Illinois State Troopers, and I wouldn't lump them in with the idiotic politicians who came up the comb as a self-defense weapon.

I look out my window at work and see the fine state of Iowa across the river. I am so tempted to jump the border and put the Peoples Republic of Illinois behind me.

I moved out here and work with a guy from Illinois. At one point I was under a lot of pressure to move back for family reasons. The conversation went like this:

him: Why do you want to move back?
me: Family reasons......housing's cheaper... Blah.... Blah
him: How many days a year do you spend with your family?
me: I don't know, 12 or 13.
him: Thats nice. What are you going to do the other 352 days a year?
Remember, Illinois is a nice place... To be from.


After 10 years, I've got no interest in moving back. I make a pilgrimage every couple of years so the relatives can see the kids, then I hightail it back out here.


I lived through the Thompson **** Years in Springfield and trust me, folks from Springfield are luck Blo-do-@itch stays in Chicago. Thompson used to trot around town like an imperial lord, replete with machine gun toting State Troopers.

I was in an antique shop once (Thompson was a big antique person) and every time I got ready to pick something up, this little girl would step in front of me and grab it or push in front me. First couple of times, I just where is this rude little brat's parents? About the 4th or 5th time I got ready to step on here, and I find I've got a guy with a long coat, ear bud, dark sunglasses, and HUGE bulge under his shoulder wagging his finger in my face. Turns out Thompson is in the shop and this is his daughter. The guy is a Trooper on the security detail. I haven't voted Republican since.

I actually have a friend in IL who said he could definately get me a job in "bit burbs" paying over double what I make now (so I'd be a little more than ahead, but not much)... I flat said no. There is NO WAY I am moving to that commie state! "check the bill of rights at the border. We don't follow them here"
