Traveling to Indianapolis
Traveling to Indy this weekend. Plan on carrying concealed especially because I am staying the night in my car one night.

I have my SC CWP, and they honor our CWP as far as I can tell.

Anything special i should know about the laws in Indiana?

Can I carry in a resteraunt that serves alcohol?

From what I have been told, when carrying in Indiana you must abide by the other state's permit rules in addition to any rules that Indiana has above those of the home state (clear as mud, right?). Someone more in tune with the Indiana laws could confirm or deny that, but that's what I've been told by a few IN residents.

IC 35-47-2-21
Recognition of retail dealers' licenses and licenses to carry handguns issued by other states
 Sec. 21. (a) Retail dealers' licenses issued by other states or foreign countries will not be recognized in Indiana except for sales at wholesale.
(b) Licenses to carry handguns, issued by other states or foreign countries, will be recognized according to the terms thereof but only while the holders are not residents of Indiana.
As added by P.L.311-1983, SEC.32.

I live in Indianapolis. I carry everywhere. Unless you are going to be in a bar, or in a bar section or a restaurant, then you can carry.

Be careful sleeping in your car. Many folks die each year from the carbon monoxide...........

Alright, thanks a lot. Thanks, for the response, I just like hearing it from someone there. A college buddy of mine is getting married in Indy this weekend so I gotta get up there to see it.




And I won't leave the car on when I'm sleeping in it. It'll only be a quick nap so I don't fall asleep at the wheel.

I live near Indy.
Our gun laws are great. Where else can you get a lifetime handgun license and never even have to take a class, a test or fire one bullet?
You don't even need to declare you are carrying when a cop pulls you over.
Just don't carry in a bar that serves alcohol.

Do you have a reference for that? I'm also in Indiana, and have never found anything that prohibits carrying into a bar.
